LinkAssistant Review

Link Assistant ReviewEvery webmaster would like to see his/her site in the top ten results on Google for their chosen keywords or key phrases and they would like that ranking to remain there permanently.

To a greater or lesser degree they work hard to achieve this result because they know that search engines judge a site's popularity by the amount of other sites that link to it, provided that the content and subject matter of the linking site has something in common with the website in question.

If you're trying to build links then LinkAssistant is a tool that will help you to do so in many ways.

Even if you start your link building project off with a lot of enthusiasm there's a good chance the process will wear you down and you'll grow bored of it, but you should press on because it does eventually work, and you should use a tool that makes the task as painless as possible. The LinkAssistant SEO tool contains an impressive collection of features that make the job of link building so much easier.

Here are a few examples of what the tool can do:

- Find dozens, scores, hundreds, or even thousands of potential link partners by entering a few details and letting the tool do the work. I recommend starting off with a small selection first. Choose high ranking sites that might link back to you.

- Your link partners might one day delete the backlink to you either by accident, in a site re-design, or for some other reason, so it's important that you keep a check on your partners. The tool can automatically check all those reciprocal links for you and will let you know which are missing.

- Keep a check on your site's ranking for the key phrases for which you are competing. It will display the results in a numeric or graphical format in a matter of minutes. Check every few weeks and if you've done your homework and used the tool wisely then you'll enjoy the satisfaction of watching your ranking increase.

LinkAssistant has been designed to work on most computers, so whether you're a Mac, Windows, or Linux user there's a copy for you.

We'd all like to see our sites succeed organically by appearing in the top ten results when people search for a given term. LinkAssistant is a tool that can help you to achieve that ambition.

Fab Family Website Lists Free Voucher Discounts

Savvy internet shoppers know that it’s possible to shave off a sizeable discount from their annual shopping bills by making use of freely available discount codes provided by retailers. These discount vouchers and promotional codes help the retailers to promote certain lines or perhaps clear an overstocked item. Their customers reap the benefits in the form of discounts on the price or other benefits like free delivery. It’s an arrangement that suits everyone. Now Voucher Discounts UK is the website that every online shopper should have bookmarked.

A visit to Voucher Discounts UK’s site before they go shopping in cyberspace will ensure that checkout totals are kept to a minimum and it’s particular useful at those times of the year when the cost of gifts and presents can easily grow uncomfortably high. Christmas is the obvious example, but holidays, new white goods for the kitchen, IT equipment, clothes, shoes, and every other item for the home can all be bought at less than the published retail price with the use of voucher discounts.

Ben Lovegrove is Voucher Discounts UK’s Marketing Manager. He has a string of successful online dating sites behind him and is now using his experience to bring this free service to the attention of the web’s growing number of shoppers. “It’s simply common sense that if a discounts are available then every shopper should make use of them particularly since the retailers themselves publish the codes” he said, “but some sites fail to publish up to date information and forget to remove voucher codes that have expired. Voucher Discounts UK is updated every hour and keeps its visitors fully informed about expiring codes as well as the latest deals on offer.”

By signing up for Voucher Discounts UK’s free weekly newsletter its fans receive up to date information on the latest promotional codes and they can take advantage of offers on all kinds of goods and services. A quick check of the list of shops at Voucher Discounts UK reveals a plethora of household names. If you’re stuck for ideas then browse the categories section for inspiration.

Visitors to the site can also join the site’s group or become a fan of Voucher Discounts UK on Facebook, or receive updates via Twitter. Updates from the site’s blog feed into these tools so that its fan base never has to look very far for a discount voucher and they are kept informed about the very latest special offers. What’s more, anyone who registers at the site can choose which shops or categories for which they would like to receive alerts thus filtering out those that are of no interest.

“This free service acts as a personal shopping assistant”, Ben explained, “By using it every time you go shopping the discounts mount up and over the course of a year it can amount to a tidy sum, especially when you consider that these voucher discounts apply to everything from books and clothes to white goods and holidays.”

So whether you’re a city professional is looking for the best price for a new IT gadget or a parent at home is saving time by shopping online then a visit to Voucher Discounts UK will help to keep some of cash in the wallet or purse.

Unreliable Software and After Sales Support

August 1, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Comment

In an ideal world all the software that we buy would be robust, reliable and bug-free, but we're realists and we know that this is very unlikely ever to be the case.

However, as customers handing over hard earned money we do expect a certain degree of reliability in the software products we buy. We expect the creators and programmers to have at least beta tested the product to such a standard that it works in the way intended without too much tweaking and support.

So why is it then that software vendors seem to think it's acceptable business practice to sell us their poorly prepared products and then enlist the unpaid support of their own customers to deal with many of the faults that manifest once it's in use? They set up forums to encourage the sharing of information when what they really mean is 'sort it out amongst yourselves'.

Naturally I understand that such forums are often of immense benefit to the customers, but there's a tendency among software vendors to rely upon the unpaid volunteers within forums to do what they should be doing i.e. fixing bugs and other problems that are frustrating their customers.

Why do they offer such poor after-sales support? They set up a ticketing system (which usually involves laborious repetitive form filling each time a ticket has to be raised) and days later you receive response that's either a request for more information or an instruction to upgrade with a patch. It's you, the customer, who has to take the risk with the upgrade not to mention the effort and time expended in doing so.

If the vendors find themselves overwhelmed with support requests they cynically introduce a 'premium support' service whereby their customers have to pay to obtain a timely response. So once again the customer pays.

Like the advert says, we don't want to complain, we just want things to work. We buy these products for a purpose, as tools for projects. We don't expect to have to waste time, effort and money fixing faults that should have been ironed out in the testing phase.

Programmers and software vendors take note!

Build a Niche Store Guide N1WAY Contest

August 1, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Affiliate Marketing Tools

Since venturing into cyberspace for the first time when the only browser was Netscape's Mosaic I've been panning for gold in the Internet Hills. Occasionally I find some gold dust and one of the tools I've used is BANS (Build A Niche Store).

The same people who created BANS have now produced a new guide that explains the niche store building process and this guide is called The No.1 Way To Make Money Online, or N1WAY for short.

A chap called Mark Hansen runs a website which helps visitors understand how to turn the BANS software into a sustainable method of making money from home and he's currently running a competition to win a site that's built precisely on the N1WAY model.

Instructions for entering the competition are on his site. It's free to enter so you may as well give it a go. Who knows, in a couple of months you could be the proud owner of a professionally built niche store created by the very people who are experts in their field.

If not, well, better luck next time, but if you're trying to earn extra income or even going full throttle to create a full time business then you may as well benefit from the advice that is present within the forums and blogs frequented by the BANS and N1WAY owners and users.

It's not easy (is it ever?), it does take work (doesn't it always?), but surprise, surprise it does work. The process of finding a niche, building a site with fresh and original content, acquiring backlinks to the site and otherwise working on the SEO does bring traffic, and if it's enough traffic you will create sales and earn commission.

I bought N1WAY when it was released about a month ago. Since then I've created four new sites and I have two more under construction. These were all built from scratch - new domains names based on what I had identified as a niche market and a keyword or phrase associated with that market, new content, and a site plan based on the N1WAY model. I did this for the first two. The second two also had the above but don't have as much content - yet. I'm marketing them and I'm referring back to the guide to remind myself of how to keep the ball rolling.

The sites are attracting traffic, clicks, and EPN sales so I'm earning commission and Adsense clicks. It's a trickle and I haven't yet made back the money I invested but it's only the first month, so early days yet. If I can do it, so can you. It's not technically difficult. You don't even have to know HTML or web site design. Just use a Wordpress blog and choose a template, or buy BANS and use one of their templates.

The forums are full of people who will help you out if you get stuck and they're a friendly bunch of mixed abilities. Newbies are always welcome because they have all trodden the path from complete beginner onwards. Some of the forum members make a full time living from their sites so you'll be in good company.

Xml-sitemaps.com’s Sitemap Generator

This is a tool that I've used again and again on several sites so it's well worth the small investment in purchasing the full version. Here are my tips for using xml-sitemaps.com's sitemap generator.

Installation is easy. Just upload the generator directory and the root files i.e. the sitemap.* files and the ror file.

Go to http://www.yourdomain.com/generator and you should see the configuration screen. If any files need to have their permissions changed then it'll tell you so at the top of the page.

If your website already has a valid HTML sitemap then, on the configuration page, uncheck 'Create html site map for your normal visitors'. This will reduce the load on your server. Your visitors can use the PHPMD sitemap.

Add some login details to the Miscellaneous Definitions (optional section). You don't want any unauthorised person logging in here. It's also advisable to secure the /generator directory so that no one can even see the login screen to this section.

Add any URLs to be excluded in the Exclude URLs box. For example, use the same list as per your 'disallow' listings in your robots.txt

In Crawler Limitations, Finetune (optional section), set the max. pages to 2000 and the max. depth level to 3. This is a good idea because your site may be so large that you'll have to wait hours before you find out if the first crawl has worked or not. You can always increase these limits later.

Save the changes and try the first crawl.

If it only finds the homepage and the server's IP address to the Advanced Settings (optional section) .

If you configured the tool to email you when the map has been created you will receive something like this:

Hello,
you have configured your sitemap generator to receive these automated notifications every time sitemap is created.
Standalone Sitemap Generator Report - 17 July 2009, 10:58
http://www.xml-sitemaps.com
-------------------------
Sitemap details
-------------------------
Request date: 17 July 2009, 10:58
Processing time: 203.54s
Pages indexed: 2000
Sitemap files: 1
Pages size: 33.99Mb

In addition, you can set up a CRON job to re-generate the map automatically every week, month etc.

Now, go to your Google Webmasters account and submit your new sitemap for the googlebot to crawl and watch the visitor numbers increase!

P.S. Xml-sitemaps.com's Sitemap Generator is on the list of recommended third party tools on the Google sitemap-generators page.

Search Engine Optimisation, Generating Website Traffic, Internet Marketing Strategies & Ideas

How to draw visitors to your website, how to generate traffic and how to optimise your website for search engines.

More website traffic is what everybody who owns a website wants, but with every increasing amounts of websites to choose from it has become necessary for webmasters and site owners to fine tune their sites and provide some reason why visitors and potential customers should visit their site rather than the rival and competing sites.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) has become an industry in itself with plenty of companies, small and large, offering to change and tweak your website in order to make it easier for search engines to analyse it, to increase its page ranking, and draw more visitors to it. Naturally, the fees such companies will charge you will vary from the small to the large too, and there's no guarantee that the traffic will start flowing nor that it will remain constant even if they succeed in generating some.

So what can the site owner do that is both free of charge (or at least low in cost) and which is proven to improve the chances of generating new traffic, encouraging former site visitors to return, and which will make the site more appealing to search engines? The answer is - plenty. There's a lot you can do without spending a penny. All it take is time and a little thought.

Here is a list of ideas to get you started. You may find more as you go along and research these techniques. New initiatives emerge all the time so this list is by no means exhaustive, but if you can put half of these things into practice then you will have developed an advantage over many of your competing sites.

1. Add plenty of fresh and original content to your site. Keep adding it on a fairly regular basis.

2. Write articles about things that resonate with the theme of your site and submit these to article directories. Your author bio at the foot of the article should contain a link to your site.

3. Swap links with sites that have something in common with your own. Choose the better quality sites i.e. ones that appeal to you and which you would be glad to associate with.

4. Visit blogs that write about your site's subjects and leave comments on them. Most comment forms allow you leave a URL so you can add a link to your site there.

5. Register at forums that are in the same vein as your site's topics and participate in discussions. Add a signature to your profile containing a link to your site. Don't add too many as this can be considered poor netiquette. A discrete signature containing two or three links at most.

6. Post adverts in classified ads websites like Cragslist, Gumtree, or Vivastreet.

7. Look out for review sites and endorse products. You might be able to add a link to your own site from there.

8. Add a blog to your site and write reviews, tell stories, share ideas, and otherwise 'talk' to your audience.

9. Use a domain name that is both easy to remember and that also describes what you're selling.

10. Add something to your site that is free to download. Use a loss leader to draw traffic.

11. Compile a mailing list by having subscription form clearly visible on your site.

12. Send regular, professionally produced mailshots to your mailing list and measure the results.

13. Learn how to use the mailing list account fully and adjust future mailshots according to the results of those previously sent.

14. Optimise your site's code. Verify it according to a recognised standard and remove anything superfluous.

15. Familiarise yourself with Google's Webmaster's/Site Owner's Guide and act on its recommendations.

16. Join Facebook and make use of the free to use Facebook pages, and/or create a Facebook group and use that to market your site.

17. Join other social and business networking sites and use them i.e. create and expand your network.

18. Use good old fashioned business cards, leaflets and posters on notice boards to advertise your site and its services or products.

19. Advertise your site on promotional merchandise like car stickers, mugs, key rings, pens, and calendars.

20. Start an affiliate program and keep in constant contact with your affiliates.

21. Get someone to proof read your site. Make sure the content is correctly spelt and punctuated and that it is grammatically correct.

22. Submit your site to search engines and web directories. Make sure it's added to the correct ones and not worthless sites or those which are in the wrong niche.

23. Configure a 'tell a friend' link in your site. Make it easy for visitors to tell others about your site.

24. Configure a signature in every email account you use. Make it discrete but interesting.

25. If you've added a blog to your site or you have one that refers to your main site then submit the blog to blog catalogues and directories.

26. Write press releases a few times each year and submit them to the free PR directories.

27. If you're site is a blog or contains a blog, enable RSS feeds so that visitors can keep up to date without returning to the site.

28. If you're site would suit it, add a forum to your site so that visitors can discuss your products or services. You can also use this list bugs and beta releases, to encourage feedback, and to provide support.
